QuidelOrtho Names Jonathan Siegrist, Ph.D. as R&D Leader and CTO

He was most recently chief technology officer and head of assay research and development at Cepheid.

QuidelOrtho has appointed Jonathan Siegrist, Ph.D. as its new executive VP of Research and Development (R&D) and chief technology officer. Dr. Siegrist took office on October 7, 2024.
 
Dr. Siegrist boasts over 15 years of experience in molecular diagnostics, microfluidic platforms, and biomedical engineering. He was most recently chief technology officer and head of assay research and development at Cepheid. Before Cepheid, he co-founded a diagnostics manufacturing company.
 
He will report to QuidelOrtho president and CEO Brian Blaser, spearheading the company’s R&D strategy with focus on menu expansion and advancing critical platforms. His leadership is anticipated to advance the company’s expertise in immunoassay and molecular testing, as well as solutions in clinical labs and transfusion medicine.
 
Werner Kroll, senior VP of R&D, will support a smooth leadership transition and related activities until his retirement in March 2025.

Blaser was named president and CEO of QuidelOrtho in May 2024. He also joined the company’s board of directors. Blaser was previously executive VP of diagnostics products at Abbott Laboratories.
