Koelis SAS is joining forces with DeepHealth to improve postate cancer care. Specifically, Koelis will use DeepHealth’s Prostate software to streamline magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) readings and integrate the platform with its own Trinity 3D Ultrasound Platform for prostate fusion biopsy and treatment.

The partnership will enable healthcare providers to utilize DeepHealth’s clinical imaging workspace for prostate MRI interpretation, to process images that can then be seamlessly transferred to the KOELIS Trinity platform for 3D MRI/US fusion procedures.

The Koelis Trinity system allows urologists to perform a 3D targeted “fusion biopsy” in prostate cancer. Trinity integrates 3D ultrasound imaging with proprietary MRI-US fusion image guidance that features the company’s prostate motion tracking software (OBT Fusion). The compact Koelis Trinity system does not require interfaces with either external ultrasound equipment or external sensors. The Trinity platform’s versatility is enabling Koelis to lead the ongoing paradigm shift in prostate cancer care to more accurate biopsy diagnoses and more choices for less invasive treatments, according to the company.

“Always responding and innovating to meet the needs of urologists and their patients, Koelis is excited about announcing this enhancement in the Radiology/AI field as well as on our flagship application the transperineal fusion biopsy,” Koelis Founder/CEO Antoine Leroy said. “We strongly believe that our collaboration with DeepHealth will facilitate the adoption of MRI fusion biopsy as a new standard of care in the U.S. We are committed to continuously improve our product offering. More possibilities will come in the next months with new radiology partners and organic developments in AI-based productivity.”

Urologists and radiologists can now collaborate to enhance workflow efficiencies along the prostate cancer clinical pathway. The aim is to provide access to PACS/cloud connectivity and automated prostate MRI segmentation to be readily imported into the KOELIS Trinity platform. The Koelis Trinity system will utilize that imaging data to create a 3D patient-specific prostate map for guidance of both diagnostic and treatment procedures.

“We have been offering Koelis fusion biopsy at Lenox Hill Radiology since 2020,” stated Dr. John Melnick, medical director at Lenox Hill Radiology in New York, N.Y. “As the director of prostate imaging, I have been reading and preparing all MRI prior to fusion biopsy. Since Koelis became compatible with DeepHealth Prostate, my job has been tremendously more efficient, not only from the perfect PACS integration of the DeepHealth software, but also from the immediate AI-powered contouring feature it offers.”

“As the lead urologist performing the Koelis fusion biopsy at Lenox Hill Radiology, I need timely and accurate MRI contours as a trustworthy input to my MRI-ultrasound fusion,” added Dr. Mitchell Fraiman, director of Urology at Good Samaritan Hospital/WMC Health. “As the Koelis Trinity platform interacts with Dr Melnick’s new AI software, the efficiency gained eventually benefits our patients.”

DeepHealth is a provider of AI-powered radiology informatics for real-world clinical settings with a focus on large-scale cancer screening programs.

Headquartered in Grenoble, France, Koelis has been a pioneer of MRI-US fusion image guidance technology since 2006. Featuring proprietary 3D ultrasound and prostate motion tracking software (OBT Fusion), the Koelis Trinity system facilitates more accurate biopsy diagnosis as well as enabling “focal” prostate cancer treatment alternatives to traditional “total” organ treatments such as surgical prostatectomy and radiation. The company’s commitment to minimally invasive prostate cancer treatments includes a multi-center clinical registry (Violette) in Europe based on Trinity-guided microwave ablation technology. Koelis has offices in Grenoble; Princeton, N.J.; Saarbrücken, Germany; and Singapore to serve more than 50 countries.
