MPO website visitors showed a fondness for the familiar this past week, favoring breaking news and updates about new products and partnerships.

Senseonics and Shockwave Medical were the online traffic titans for their respective product innovations. Senseonics garnered readers’ interest with word the FDA cleared the next-gen Eversense 365 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system for adult Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes patients. Eversense 365 was cleared as an integrated CGM (iCGM) system, which means it can integrate with compatible medical devices like insulin pumps as part of an automated insulin delivery (AID) system. The device is currently the only CGM with a 365-day sensor—there’s only one insertion and one “Day 1” every year, the company said. The tiny sensor rests under the skin so it cannot be knocked off, minimizing the inconvenience and cost of regular replacements.

Shockwave Medical was the second-best pageview performer with the U.S. launch of the FDA-cleared Shockwave E8 Peripheral IVL Catheter. The product is designed to optimize the treatment calcified femoro-popliteal and below-the-knee peripheral artery disease, including patients with complex chronic limb-threatening ischemia.

This past week’s financial news of choice came from Phillips Medisize and Boston Scientific Corp. Molex’s Phillips Medisize landed in the top five list by initiating an agreement to acquire Vectura Group Limited, a Philips Morris subsidiary. Based in Chippenham, U.K., Vectura specializes in inhalation drug device design and formulation. The company’s portfolio includes formulation and device development for dry powder inhalers (DPI), pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDI), nasal and nebulizer products for small molecules, biologics, complex combinations and generic products. The company also provides pharmaceutical analysis, process development, technical transfer, clinical trial supplies, and regulatory services.

Boston Scientific also proved popular with readers for closing its acquisition of Silk Road Medical, a company that pioneered a new approach for stroke intervention and carotid artery disease treatment—transcarotid artery revascularization. The deal, first announced in June 2024, was valued at a purchase price of $27.50 per share, or $1.18 billion.
