MPO’s Most-Read Stories This Week—March 30

Medtech testing services captured the bulk of MPO website visitor interest this past week.

Specifically, the March issue feature on testing services and equipment took top most-read honors. The story outlined the trends and factors shaping the testing services and equipment market. According to the feature, compliance with the EU MDR and other regulations continues to drive most of the trends in the testing industry but for many testing labs, there were fewer MDR testing requests in 2023 compared to the previous few years, which may signal MDMs are catching up to the MDR, or they feel like they have more time, considering the MDR extension announced in December 2022. “Customers are increasingly interested in having product testing integrated into their manufacturing equipment, with artificial intelligence making inroads into this space,” said Dave McMorrow, technical director at MMT Automation.

Another top five contender attracting cybervisitor interest was an online exclusive about blood collection technology. A BD Life Sciences representative penned a short feature on the company’s BD MiniDraw Capillary Blood Collection System, designed for use in non-traditional care settings to help make the process more convenient and accessible to patients. “The BD MiniDraw is a potentially transformative device, and its implications for patients are significant, in large part because getting access to health care continues to pose many challenges,” noted Bridget C. Bagnato, president of Specimen Management at BD Life Sciences.

Other website traffic drivers this week included Norwood’s new hire (vice president of sales and marketing), CE Mark approval for Abbott’s Assert-IQ insertable cardiac monitor (ICM) for diagnostic evaluation and long-term monitoring of people experiencing abnormal heartbeats, and Masimo’s intention to separate its consumer businesses.
