FDA OKs GE HealthCare’s Portrait VSM Vital Signs Monitor

GE HealthCare has earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its Portrait VSM vital signs monitor.
 
Portrait VSM uses GE HealthCare’s SuperSTAT non-invasive blood pressure algorithm for precise, accurate measurement readings. It features wireless connectivity and EMR integration, as well as customized Early Warning Scores (EWS) and helps care teams by automating routine tasks.
 
Portrait VSM connects with the latest iteration of the Portrait Mobile wireless, wearable continuous monitoring solution to integrate patient data in a unified workflow, while ensuring patient mobility. A single click of the barcode scanner automatically imports patient demographic data and a snapshot of the patient’s continuously monitored data: respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and pulse rate.
 
The workflow, according to the company, streamlines clinical rounding and reduces steps needed to capture and chart a complete set of vital sign measurements.
 
Portrait Mobile enables an uninterrupted flow of data and continuous vital sign measurement to help detect patient decline, as well. Portrait VSM combines standard spot check capability with continuous patient monitoring through connectivity to Portrait Mobile.
 
Healthcare systems can incorporate and customize EWS protocols into the monitor view to help clinicians recognize the early signs of deterioration in patients and make timely interventions, while limiting manual calculations and transcription. To enable simplified rounding and help avoid delayed measurements, the Round Advisor feature also helps care teams manage and prioritize spot checks for multiple patients by assigning and tracking a sequence of care.
