Biogennix, an osteobiologics company specializing in innovative healing solutions for surgical procedures, has released its new Agilon Surgical Matrix wound care product. This marks the company’s launch in the wound care space.

The Agilon Surgical Matrix is a solution derived from 100% bovine Type 1 collagen. It comes in a sterile, single-use packaging.

Once in contact with a new or open wound, whether surgically or naturally occurring, the Agilon Surgical Matrix transforms into a gel. The gel covers the whole area and maintains a low-pH wound environment to aid in the formation of tissue and epithelialization, which is conducive to successful wound healing.

“Based on the enthusiastic feedback we’ve received from surgeons, we anticipate Agilon Surgical Matrix to be a significant addition to our product offering that will open the doors to a wide variety of indications,” said Biogennix’s VP of Business Development, Greg Yocum. “Because Agilon Surgical Matrix is purified low pH, bovine Type 1 collagen, it represents a significant advancement in surgical and post-operative care management, offering a myriad of benefits – including antibacterial properties – which enhance patient outcomes and facilitate healing. This product also opens the door for Biogennix to participate in the wound care market.”

Agilon Surgical Matrix is backed by in vitro performance data. The data demonstrated a wide range of antimicrobial properties, offering added protection against infections. The product’s versatility extends to various surgical applications, serving as an alternative to close-suction drains, blood vessel ligation, or surgical site immobilization in preventing postoperative seromas.

Surgical areas Agilon Surgical Matrix covers include orthopedic, podiatry, cardiovascular, abdominal, neurologic, plastic/breast reconstruction, general, OB/GYN, trauma, vascular, burns, and ulcers.
