Philips CEO Frans van Houten to Step Down

Philips has announced that Roy Jakobs will succeed Frans van Houten as president and CEO on October 15 of this year.
 
Philips’ Supervisory Board and van Houten agreed that nearing the end of his third term, “the time is right for the change in leadership.”
 
Roy Jakobs has strengthened Philips’ Connected Care portfolio via successful acquisitions for hospital and ambulatory care settings. He led responsibility for the voluntary recall notification/field safety notice for Respironics devices on Philips’ behalf. According to the company, “substantial progress” was made under his leadership in executing the program to deliver a resolution to affected patients as quickly as possible.
 
Frans van Houten will continue as acting advisor to Philips until April 30, 2023.

I gladly hand over to my Executive Committee team member Roy Jakobs in the knowledge that he brings the experience, energy, and commitment to take Philips on the path forward, with continuity for our customers and determination to improve the health and well-being of billions of people in a sustainable and responsible way.
