Custom medical electronics and supply chain management garnered significant clicks on MPO’s website this past week, though the Top 30 Medical Device Companies report maintains its top traffic-generating position.

Cybervisitors were drawn to the magazine’s September feature on custom medical electronics, which culled industry trends and market challenges from a discussion with experts from eight companies. Digital drop-ins also favored a column on the supply chain’s critical role in mergers and acquisitions. “The supply chain is an often-overlooked area that can accelerate profitability after an acquisition,” Denise Odenkirk, vice president, Supplier Sales, Global Healthcare Exchange, writes in her Supply Chain column. “This is because the cornerstone of any successful organization, especially in a merger or acquisition, is the ability to continue to provide customers what they need, when they need it. In healthcare, if supplies are difficult to acquire or the data is inaccurate, a ripple effect extends to customers and ultimately patients.”

Other website traffic drivers this past week included a rosy forecast for the worldwide diabetes devices market, a new product debut from J&J Vision, and personnel news from Rockley Photonics.

J&J Vision launched its new AcuVue Oasys Max 1-Day contact lenses and AcuVue Oasys Max 1-Day Multifocal contact lenses for presbyopia. The new lenses feature TearStable, designed to maximize tear-film stability and lock in moisture for all-day comfort, and the company’s OptiBlue blue-violet light filter to reduce light scatter day and night. The lenses were engineered to account for the more than 12 hours many adults spend looking at a screen, which can impact visual clarity.

Rockley Photonics formed a scientific advisory board (SAB) of world-renowned experts across several key disciplines in biomedical science and technology, including spectroscopy, diabetes technology, hydration science, and cardiology. The initial members of the Rockley SAB include the following experts in their field: Mark A. Arnold, Ph.D., a widely recognized expert in the non-invasive optical monitoring of biomarkers such as glucose and urea; Stavros Kavouras, Ph.D., whose research focuses on the effect of water intake on glucose regulation and its implication on children’s hydration and obesity; David C. Klonoff, M.D., an endocrinologist specializing in the development and use of diabetes technology; and Zahi A. Fayad, Ph.D., whose interdisciplinary and discipline-bridging research—from engineering to biology and from pre-clinical to clinical investigations—has been dedicated to the detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease, with many seminal contributions in the field of multimodality biomedical imaging, nanomedicine, AI/ML in Imaging, and digital mobile health. Dr. Fayad is also a paid consultant for Rockley Photonics.
