Xironetic’s IntraOpVSP AR Surgical Software Earns FDA Nod

Current, planned use cases expected for general, craniofacial/maxillofacial, neuro, ortho, plastic, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.

Early-stage healthcare tech firm Xironetic has earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its IntraOpVSP augmented reality (AR) software for complex surgeries.
 
IntraOpVSP displays CT and MRI scans as 3D holograms in AR headsets to help surgeons visualize surgical plans, anatomical targets, and cutting guides alongside or overlayed on the patient. It can be used during surgery and pre-op planning. The software also includes hand tracking and voice recognition features.
 
Current and planned IntraOpVSP use cases are expected for general, craniofacial/maxillofacial, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.
 
“IntraOpVSP is an extension to virtual surgical planning tools used today, bringing the insights of 3D visualization of CT and MRI data into the operating room to support improved surgical outcomes,” Christian El-Amm, MD, Xironetic founder, and chief pediatric surgeon at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital told the press. “Our software is a huge step forward for surgeons and their patients, and the FDA’s clearance is another important milestone in getting it into operating rooms everywhere.”
