Baxter Rolls Out Hillrom Progressa+ ICU Bed

Baxter has launched its Hillrom Progressa+ bed for the intensive care unit (ICU), which offers new tech to help nurses care for patients while supporting recovery.
 
“Our new and improved Progressa+ is a ‘true ICU bed,’ designed for the realities of critical care, where patient needs are high and clinical staff can be stretched thin,” Julie Brewer, president, Baxter’s Patient Support Systems, Global Surgical Solutions and Care Communications businesses, told the press. “We asked ICU care teams how we could make their jobs easier, and then designed the next generation of our leading ICU bed with features that help address challenges, such as reducing the strain on nursing resources, lessening the risk of pressure injuries and simplifying patient positioning.”
 
Progressa+ features in-bed percussion, vibration, and continual lateral rotation therapies designed to reduce pulmonary complications related to immobility. An improved bed frame makes access to the head of the bed simpler for intubation and other procedures.
 
Support features were also engineered to support optimal skin protection and wound healing, and a new top cover allows easier cleaning. In conjunction with an integrated lift system, Progressa+ helps support patient mobility protocols while minimizing risk of injury to the clinician. The One-button FullChair with sit-to-stand Chair Egress features helps move patients safely and easily.
 
Progress was initially launched in the U.S. and Baxter aims to roll out the ICU bed in other global markets over the next 18 months.
