Biomerics Finishes Expansion of Minnesota Facility

Biomerics, a vertically integrate medical device contract manufacturer for the interventional device market, has completed a 100,000-square-foot expansion of its Brooklyn Park, Minn. Operations.
 
The expansion brings the facility to a total size of 170,000 square feet. It consolidates multiple facilities under one roof and expands Biomerics’ engineering Centers of Excellence for Complex Extrusions, Laser Processing and Advanced Catheters & Steerables, as well as final assembly operations.
 
The Brooklyn Park facility specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, specialized catheters, steerable devices, and delivery systems for interventional devices.
 
The expansion added 20,000 square feet for micro metals laser processing, 24,000 square feet for complex extrusion processing—with 2,000 square feet of that certified ISO class 8 cleanroom space—and 10,000 square feet for advanced catheter processing. There are also further areas for employee training and office space, Biomerics said.
 
The company expects the new space will allow it to triple extrusion output over the next five years. Biomerics said the integration of Brooklyn Park’s extrusion and catheter teams with its Salt Lake City-based custom proprietary polyurethane manufacturing team makes it the only fully integrated medical tubing manufacturer in the interventional device market.
 
The expansion marks the launch of Biomerics Advanced Materials & Tubing, the company’s newest Center of Excellence.
