Intertek Announces Field Evaluations Services for Medical Electrical Equipment

Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to a range of industries worldwide, announces new field evaluations services to verify medical electrical equipment and systems to CSA Model Code SPE-3000. With these services, Intertek can assist small volume purchasers and importers of medical devices in Canada with the inspection and verification of products to the code’s safety standard requirements.

CSA Model Code SPE-3000 applies to the safety of medical electrical equipment and systems from electrical shock, fire and mechanical hazards. As of July 1, 2016, inspection bodies qualified by the Standards Council of Canada can conduct field evaluations under the code. As an accredited inspection body, Intertek offers a network of experienced and qualified engineers to conduct field evaluations throughout the country to ensure essential construction, marking and testing requirements are in place for the equipment or system. Intertek has also compiled a free white paper detailing the requirements of the model code and insights on compliance to better educate the industry.
