Sommetrics Receives Health Canada Approval to Market New Sleep Apnea Therapy

Sommetrics, a company providing products and services to improve sleep quality, announced that its aerSleepTM system has received a Health Canada Medical Device License, which allows the system to be marketed in Canada. aerSleep will soon be available by prescription to Canadians diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep apnea afflicts more than 20 percent of adults worldwide, and is linked to other serious health conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cognitive/mental disorders.
 
The aerSleep system utilizes Sommetrics’ proprietary aer+ technology, which applies negative external pressure to gently maintain an open airway during sleep. The aerSleep system’s soft collar and integrated silent vacuum pump allows sleep in virtually all positions, has no hoses or mask, and is non-invasive, comfortable, highly portable, cordless, and easy to use and maintain.
