Evans Analytical Group Names New Life Sciences Leader

Craig Morley is starting off the new year with a new position. The 47-year-old business executive has been hired by Santa Clara, Calif.-based Evans Analytical Group LLC (EAG) to lead its Life Sciences division.


Morley brings more than 20 years ofexperience in the life sciences and contract research sectors to his new job. He most recently worked as vice president of sales and marketing for Transposagen Biopharmaceuticals Inc., a privately held biotechnology company based in Lexington, Ky., that develops and distributes genetically modified rat models.


Before he joined Transposagen, Morley was a global managing director at Merck/Millipore. Prior to that, he worked as a global marketing director for toxicology at Covance Inc., a Princeton,

N.J.-based drug development services company that reported nearly $2 billion in revenue in 2010.
The company maintains a strategic alliance with Eli Lilly and Company, the world’s 10th-largest pharmaceutical firm. Morley worked at Eli Lilly as well, first as a sales representative and eventually working his way up to international cardiovascular marketing associate, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also held several management roles at bioMerieux, a privately held French diagnostic company.


“The addition of talented and seasoned executives such as Craig to our management team demonstrates our commitment to growing the EAG Life Sciences division and supporting our clients’ needs for delivering quality research,” EAG CEO Harry Davoody said.


EAG Life Sciences provides analytical, custom synthesis and bioanalytical development services for the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries. Services support early to late-phase

projects and include analytical methoddevelopment/validation, reference standard characterization, impurity profiles,contaminant studies, stability services,extractables/leachables studies and analytical support for formulations. The company was acquired by Evans Analytical Group in April 2011.


Helix Medical Hires Manufacturing Executive


Helix Medical LLC has added to its executive management team. The custom medical device manufacturing firm has named Ward Sokoloski to lead its manufacturing operations in Baldwin Park, Calif., and Shenzhen, China.


Sokoloski has worked in medical device engineering, supply chain, plant management and senior leadership positions at Covidien plc, formerly Tyco Healthcare.


“Adding Ward to the Helix Medical team further strengthens our ability to meet the diverse needs of our customer base,” Helix Medical President and CEO Jorg Schneewind said in a news release. “He will use his broad experience to meet our customers’ technical, quality andsupply chain requirements.”


Sokoloski has a bachelor of sciencedegree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology inAtlanta and a bachelor of science degree in Mathematics and Natural Sciences from

St. Andrews College.


Established in 1984, ISO 13485-certified Helix Medical operates manufacturingfacilities in California, Massachusetts,Germany, Ireland and China. A facility in Costa Rica is scheduled to open this year.Manufacturing capabilities at the Shenzhen (China) facility include molding, assembly, packaging, and various secondary services such as pad printing, screen printing, blister packaging, and leak testing. The facility was built in 2006 and mirrors the company’s California operations in regard to policies and procedures, including implementation of IQMS for real-time production monitoring, material procurement

and scheduling.


ATW Appoints Business Development Director


ATW Companies Inc., a provider of engineered metal manufacturing, has appointed Tracy MacNeal as corporate director of Business Development. MacNeal will coordinate and manage the strategic direction of the entire organization through sales and marketing efforts.


With 15 years of experience, MacNeal has worked with organizations ranging from startups and Fortune 500 clients in a range of industries, including medical devices.She is a chemical engineer with an MBA from Duke University in Durham, N.C.


Most recently, MacNeal served as partner and vice president of Business Development for Praxis Technology, a privately held medical device company, where she was responsible for driving strategy togenerate profitable revenue growth in all therapeutic and technology portfolio areas.


She previously served as president of MacNeal Consulting, where she focused on technology development for new products in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-regulated environment.


“I am excited to bring Tracy MacNeal on board to serve as the voice of the market throughout our entire organization, playing a role of paramount importance in developing strategies in operational and engineering areas, in addition to sales and marketing,” said ATW President and CEO Peter Frost. “She will help ATW Companies adopt imaginative and sophisticated approaches to help us achieve success in today’s business environment.”
