Ximedica Appoints New CEO

Industry veteran Randall Barko to take the helm.

As founding CEO Stephen Lane assumes the role of chairman and chief venture officer to foster company growth, Randall S. Barko will take his place at the helm of Ximedica Inc., a manufacturing services company based in Providence, R.I.

Newly appointed CEO and president Barko is a board member of several privately held companies, and serves as an advisor to several more. Prior to becoming CEO, he was an executive advisor to Ximedica for three years. His expertise comes from 30 years experience in the medical device and healthcare industries—he most recently was vice president of corporate development at Flextronics International, and before that spent 25 years with Nypro Inc. His departing title there was corporate vice president of marketing and business development, and board member.

Barko said he has some of the same concerns as other medical device industry executives. “I appreciate the challenges and opportunities we, along with the rest of the healthcare industry, are facing today,” he said in a prepared statement, adding he is confident Ximedica can rise to the occasion under his leadership.
