Lantheus Medical Imaging Names New Vice President of International Business

Michael W. Heslop joins the company from Genzyme Corporation.

Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc., manufacturer of diagnostic imaging agents, has appointed Michael W. Heslop to the position of vice president of international business.

“Mike brings extensive pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience and a successful track record with global business and marketing strategy development,” said Don Kiepert, president and CEO of Lantheus. “His appointment as vice president, international aligns with our international business growth strategy. We look forward to expanding our global footprint, which will lead to improvement in the treatment of human disease.”

In his new position, Heslop will be responsible for all aspects of Lantheus’s international business, which will include the recently announced partnership with Check-Cap Ltd. of Mount Carmel, Israel. Lantheus was awarded a $300,000 grant in June from the Massachusetts-Israel Innovation Partnership (MIIP), which is a formal collaboration between the State of Israel and Commonwealth of Massachusetts focused on encouraging and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship between Massachusetts’ and Israel’s life sciences, clean energy and technology sectors. Check-Cap manufactures a non-invasive 3-dimensional imaging capsule to screen for polyps and lesions associated with colorectal cancer. The grant money will be given to Lantheus upon completion of the collaboration agreement with Check-Cap. The two companies will work together to develop an imaging product to be used to detect colon cancer.

Heslop will report directly to Lantheus’ Chief Commercial Officer Cyrille Villeneuve.

Heslop joins Lantheus with more than 25 years of general management and commercial experience, including his work with Glaxo Wellcome USA, Scriptgen Pharmaceuticals, and most recently Genzyme Corporation, where he was general manager and senior vice president of Biosurgical Specialties. While at Genzyme, he also held the positions of general manager and senior vice president of Endocrinology, and vice president of Global Marketing, PGH Business. Heslop earned his B.S. degree in biology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and an MBA from Concordia University in the same city.
