Elcam Medical has been granted 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Wireless Disposable Pressure Transducer (DPT) monitoring system.

Elcam Medical’s multi-channel Wireless DPT system is designed for the benefit of both the patient and the medical staff. The system uses bluetooth communication protocol that uses advanced authentication protocol to prevent risk of interference with other signals. The company claims this benefit the patient by increasing safety, eliminating cable contamination, and reducing patient error upon transfer. Wireless technology such as this also benefits clinicians by eliminating complicated tangles of wires and cables near the patient. The DPT is also claimed to facilitate and accelerate patient transfer; Enable one-person calibration from bedside, without adjusting the monitor; And save clinicians time by reducing their workload.

Elcam’s DPT system can monitor patient blood pressure, central venous pressure, pulmonary pressure, intracranial pressure, intra-abdominal pressure, intrauterine pressure and more. It is compatible with all monitoring systems and suitable for use in the intensive care unit and the operating room.
