Sonic Manufacturing Technologies Achieves ISO 13485 Certification

The company has been reducing offshore production and bringing production back to the United States.

Sonic Manufacturing Technologies’ two Freemont, Calif. facilities have been awarded the ISO 13485:2003 certification for quality management systems in medical device manufacturing. The primary objective of ISO 13485:2003 is to facilitate harmonized medical device regulatory requirements for quality management systems.

Sonic is an electronics manufacturing service provider, providing a large number of original equipment manufacturers in the Silicon Valley and across the western region of the United States with rapid new product introduction services and time-to-ramp processes.

“ISO 13485 certification is a great achievement for Sonic and of great value to our existing medical customers,” said Ken Raab, CEO of Sonic. “Reducing risk, improving process control and providing traceability have always been important to Sonic. Vetting these out in the formal system with full documentation smoothly supports our customer verification processes and agency compliance.”

As of late, Sonic has been bringing production back to the United States due to the rise in cost of global outsourcing.
