Bruin Biometrics Expands Executive Team

Bruin Biometrics LLC is starting the year with a new management team.

The Los Angeles, Calif.-based point-of-care diagnostics developer has appointed two new board members and added four managers to its executive team.

Jeff Greiner joins Bruin’s board after serving 18 years leading Advanced Bionics, a medical device company that developed spinal cord stimulators and cochlear implants. The company was sold for more than $3 billion and is now owned by Boston Scientific Corp. (neuromodulation division) and Sonova (cochlear implant division).

Eve Kurtin brings to her new board position more than 20 years of experience as an operating executive and investor in healthcare. She is managing director of Pacific Venture Group and senior advisor of VantagePoint Capital Partners. Kurtin also is a founding member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors, an assembly of national leaders working to improve the U.S. healthcare system.

In addition to the new board members, Bruin also welcomed Rob Pescar, Armin Beck, Mark Bruns and Sally Grigoriev to its upper-level management ranks. Pescar was hired as vice president of Research and Development; he has previously launched 18 medical products at various companies, including Alaris Medical Systems Inc., Cardinal Health, CareFusion Corp., Gen-Probe Inc., IMED and Infrasonics Inc.

Beck is Bruin’s newest vice president of Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Operations. He has more than 30 years of experience leading international commercial product launches and most recently directed Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Clinical Affairs at Cardica Inc.

Bruns joins Bruin as vice president of Commercial Operations and Sales. He has more than 30 years of experience, most recently as a transformational leader in sales and marketing at Alaris Medical Systems, Cardinal Health and CareFusion.

Grigoriev was hired as a senior advisor for Bruin’s operations. She previously was senior vice president of Manufacturing and Operations at CareFusion and Cardinal Health. Grigoriev has more than 25 years of research and development, quality, regulatory, manufacturing and operations experience within the medical device industry.
