BD Names V.P. of Global Strategy and Development

New executive has Citi, Morgan Stanley, and JNJ on resume.

Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based Becton Dickinson and Company (BD) has appointed Amit Bhalla as its new vice president of global strategy and development. Bhalla will join BD in March and will report to Vincent A. Forlenza, chairman, CEO and president.

“I am pleased to welcome Amit to our management team,” said Forlenza. “His extensive experience covering the medical technology industry will serve as an asset in this role. I’m confident that his proven expertise will help drive and develop BD’s strategy of accelerating growth through innovation, geographic expansion and operating effectiveness to create value for our customers and shareholders.”

Bhalla will partner with the senior management team in driving the overall development of BD’s strategy. The business development and corporate strategy functions will report to him.

He joins BD from Citi, where he served as director, equity research, life science tools/medical technology since 2006. Prior to that role, he served as vice president, equity research, emerging medical technology at Morgan Stanley, as well as technical operations/research & development associate at Johnson & Johnson.

Bhalla earned his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University at the Tepper School of Business and holds a B.S. in biology from Cornell University.

BD focuses on drug delivery, the diagnosis of infectious diseases and cancers, diabetes management and advancing cellular research.
