AK Stamping Company Inc. Expands in China

AK Stamping Company, Inc.’s new medical device products division located in Shanghai, China, will focus on this rapidly evolving global market segment, according to company leadership. AK Stamping Company serves a variety of OEMs and contract manufacturers in the medical market.

“Our recently expanded Shanghai facility supports the growing medical device market by instilling world class manufacturing quality standards into our products. We have put together a dedicated team of engineering, marketing, and sales experts to continue our innovation in this market segment,” said Arthur Kurz, president of AK Stamping Company Inc. “To realize lowered per piece production costs, increase capacity and guarantee quality, we have made significant investments in factory automation technologies. We will continue to leverage our technology, engineering, and product development capabilities, in order to serve the needs of the medical device and healthcare markets in China, and the rest of the world.”

Production capabilities of the new division include short run stamping, high-volume production, reel-to-reel processing, laser welding, coating, burlytic deburring, electropolishing, in-line assembly, grinding (in-line or single pieces,) and stamping of specialty alloys.  Products include blades, clips, cutters, disposables, graspers, jaws, pacemaker components, sharps, surgical components, and channels, as well as other custom medical stampings.

AK Stamping (Shanghai) was founded in August 2005 in CaoHejing Hi-Tech Park, Pudong province and is a wholly owned subsidiary of AKS USA. This location provides local manufacturing support for the Chinese domestic market, as well as exports for the rest of the world. The facility is ISO 9001-2008 Certified (SGS registrar) with plans to enhance factory automation, expand tool build facilities, and obtain “green” and medical quality certifications, as part of their technology roadmap.
