CardioTech International of Wilmington, MA has received approval from a medical center’s ethics committee for a 10-patient study of the company’s CardioPass coronary artery bypass graft, according to the Associated Press.

The approval is one of a number of conditions the medical device manufacturer must satisfy in order to begin the study. It is still waiting for Ministry of Health approval to begin patient enrollment, and hopes to begin the study by the end of the year.

Also, CardioTech said it paid $350,000 to buy the proprietary equipment made to make the CardioPass system after the manufacturer decided to exit the business, the company said in a statement.
