BodyTel Shifts Headquarters From Germany to Florida

A developer of wireless medical devices is moving its headquarters to Jacksonville, pending approval of an incentive deal by City Council and the state. BodyTel Scientific Inc. is a German-American company that specializes in monitoring systems for chronic diseases. Its first product is a blood glucose meter, part of a system to manage diabetes. The company asked for public funding to offset some of the costs of relocation, which includes the lease and build out of office space for the administrative and marketing staff. BodyTel will bring 13 full-time jobs to the city paying an average of more than $72,000, more than double the statewide average. The company will be moving from Bad Wildungen, Germany. “It’s great to see more medical technology companies coming to Jacksonville,” said City Councilman Art Graham. “Jacksonville has always been known as a military town and a port town. Now we’re becoming known as a medical town.” SOURCE: Jacksonville Business Journal
