Terumo Cardiovascular Systems Corp. filed a patent infringement complaint against a California company that had already filed two patent complaints against Terumo earlier this year.

Terumo Cardiovascular of Scio Township, MI, alleged in an Aug. 21 complaint filed in California that Maquet Cardiovascular LLC of San Jose, CA infringed on its patent of its VirtuoSaph Endoscopic Vein Harvesting System. That’s a system for performing coronary bypass surgery with healthy arteries or veins from the body and minimizing surgical incisions.

In April, Maquet accused Terumo Corp. – Terumo Cardiovascular’s parent company – of infringing on the patent of its own endoscopic vein harvesting system and an accompanying device.

Terumo Cardiovascular is part of the Japanese company Terumo and is related to Terumo Heart Inc., which is also located outside Ann Arbor, MI.
