Innovative healthcare technologies are on grand display within the halls of Medica and CompaMed during this year's event.
Medtech has borrowed technology innovations from other industries in pursuit of the improvement of healthcare solutions. Both 4K and 3D have been adapted from consumer applications to improve imaging, surgical vision, and diagnostics. Both can be found throughout many halls of Medica.
If we want to improve healthcare, we need to pay attention to the creative and dynamic start-ups coming onto the scene. The number of start-ups at Medica has grown consistently over the past few years, making this event the international hotspot for the start-up arena. The Start-Up Park has established itself as a launchpad for creating business contact with representatives of these new firms. Housed in Hall 13, the Park is completely booked, containing 36 start-ups from 18 countries.
The DIAMAG (Almag 03) provides transcranial magnetic stimulation—a noninvasive procedure that leverages magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. The technology can be used for a variety of applications, including stabilize vision in patients with chronic iridocyclitis, relieve pain from migraines, aid in the acute and subacute period of stroke, and improve quality of life for patients with Parkinson’s disease. The device is just one example of the many types of wearable technologies at Medica.
Many exhibitors utilize a simulated healthcare setting within which to showcase and demonstrate their products. Having their solutions interact with other technologies helps illustrate the value they can bring to an already established medical environment.
Just as tech industry leaders are moving rapidly into the healthcare space, their growing presence is also felt within the halls of Medica. Companies like Sony and Samsung stand alongside other more traditional medtech companies at the event.
The opportunity to take part in hands-on demonstrations is one of the primary value propositions of Medica. Surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals can get up close with new technologies that address critical issues they are attempting to treat every day in their healthcare setting.
At this year’s App competition, three teams among the 13 finalists were standouts. First place was awarded to SynPhNe, the world’s first connected, wearable solution that trains brain and muscle as one system. Gain greater insight into the app competition in the feature, An App-solute Symphony of Digital Health Solutions.
Compamed provides a fantastic meeting place for attendees and Medica exhibitors alike seeking new supply chain partners. The event has grown over the years and completely fills both halls of 8A and 8B. Products and services for design challenges through to packaging needs can be located within the many aisles of the co-located event.
Supply partners like Freudenberg Medical—a global developer and manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions—can use the Compamed event as a launch point for new product and service solutions.
