Greetings from Medica 2019! Around 5,500 exhibitors from 69 countries will be showcasing their products and services. Clearly structured, with each market segment assigned its own exhibition hall, Medica covers the entire range of medical equipment needs in practices and hospitals.

The KUKA Innovation Award, a competition for robotics from all over the world, has been an established institution since 2014. For its 6th edition, the spotlight has been turned to medical robotics for the first time. All participants used an LBR Med robotic component from KUKA and a 3D vision system from Roboception. The I&Bot team from France focused on using the LBR Med to perform automatic and personalized back massages.

The moio smart care patch, developed by the German start-up MOIO, can be used in an inpatient or domestic setting and increases the quality of life for caregivers and care service users by employing targeted, up-to-date information. The flat sensor module is only activated when it is actually needed and offers various functions, such as alarms if users get up or fall, mobility protocols, and positioning.
