Rober's 'zero pressure' ulcer mattresses prevents injuries from developing.

They may look comfortable, but the mattresses on display this week by Rober Ltd. are designed to provide its users with more than a good night's rest.

Over the last few years, the United Kingdom-based firm has invested heavily in R&D to develop a range of 'zero pressure' ulcer mattresses that cater to a variety of needs, including patients that are immobile, bariatric or have existing pressure injuries.
Developed in conjunction with clinicians, the mattresses feature clinically proven technology that prevents pressure injuries from developing. They also have therapeutic properties that promote the healing of established ulcers, according to executives.
The mattresses are fully automatic, and patients nursed upon them require less frequent manual repositioning, thus relieving the pressure on busy nursing staff. They can be used in everyday nursing environments, as well as acute care facilities.
“Designed and manufactured in the U.K., Rober’s mattresses, overlays and cushions have been developed to replicate the body’s natural movements by responding to a patient’s weight, spontaneous movement pattern and body position," Rober CEO Mike Hutson said. "They provide enhanced comfort and complete pressure elimination at regular intervals.”
Pressure ulcers are a rising problem around the world. In the United Kingdom, they affect more than 700,000 people annually and add an additional £4,000 per ulcer onto each person’s care bill. They are also linked to prolonged hospitalization, pain, social isolation and in worst cases, death.
Medica 2016 is taking place from Nov. 14–17 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Rober is exhibiting its mattresses in in hall 16, stand G20-02. 

Rober Ltd. was established in 1995 by the managing director of Pegasus Airwave Limited, a company renowned for developing pressure care mattresses. In 2006 Rober was acquired by Speed Plastics and relocated to Chesterfield, United Kingdom.
