Advanced polymer solutions firm Zeus announced a multi-million-dollar investment into its worldwide catheter manufacturing capacity.
The first phase of the expansion is underway in the company’s San Jose, Calif. location. The initial project will augment the facility’s footprint to boost catheter-based design and manufacturing.
Steve Peterson, Zeus’ CEO and president, said the investment responds to growing medical device OEM demand. "Our customers depend on innovative thinking, speed, and the latest catheter design and manufacturing technologies to deliver their life-saving products," he told the press. "We want to solidify Zeus' position as their strategic, long-term partner."
The San Jose site will grow 127% to a footprint of 32,000 square feet. The expansion will also increase the facility’s ISO-certified cleanroom capacity to over 7,000 square feet and double braiding and coil capacity for catheter-based, minimally invasive devices.
The expansion will create 15 new jobs this year, and 50+ in the next one to two years, according to the company—the added positions include project engineers, project managers, product builders, and technicians.
Suresh Sainath, GM and senior VP for Zeus' CathX Medical division, said the San Jose expansion will allow Zeus to meet the immediate requirements of its customers best. "We offer customers a dedicated partner with the capacity to drive their catheter manufacturing programs. Zeus can deliver solutions from concept to commercialization."
