Gaurav Kapoor, Chief Technical Officer, Spectrum Plastics Group 02.03.21
MPO reached out to members of industry to address the following question:
What do you expect will be one significant change within medtech development and/or manufacturing as a result of the pandemic?
In response, Gaurav Kapoor, chief technical officer of Spectrum Plastics Group, said:
Often times, a site visit is requested throughout various stages of a project, where a face-to-face engineering meeting, design review, or audit occurs at a facility. Over the past year, this has not been the case due to strict regulations and protocols with COVID-19, so tools like video conferencing and virtual tours have aided to the bridge the gap in lieu of in-person engagement. Although these options do not replace face-to-face meetings, they provide a technology and solution for productive interaction between both parties. We suspect even after the pandemic remote project management and collaboration will be a more common part of the development process in order to reduce spend for companies. We also suspect the potential for investment in artificial intelligence and augmented reality to enable next level engagement between engineers.
