Zimmer Biomet President/CEO David Dvorak has joined the board of St. Paul. Minn.-based medical device company St. Jude Medical Inc.
Dvorak, 51, has been president/CEO and a Zimmer board member for eight years. Zimmer now is known as Zimmer Biomet following the $14 billion merger in late June between Zimmer Holdings Inc. and Biomet Inc. The combined firm began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on June 29.
Dvorak joined Zimmer in December 2001, shortly after the company’s spinoff from Bristol-Myers Squibb, and has served in many executive roles including group president of global businesses, chief legal officer, executive vice president of corporate services, chief counsel and secretary, chief compliance officer, and senior vice president of corporate affairs and general counsel. He currently serves as a board member of the Washington, D.C.-based Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), and previously served as the organization’s board chairman.
“We are very pleased to have David Dvorak join the St. Jude Medical board of directors,” St. Jude Medical Chairman, President and CEO Daniel J. Starks said in prepared remarks. “David is a distinguished leader in the medical technology industry and will offer a broad strategic perspective to our business. We look forward to his future contributions as St. Jude Medical continues to deliver on its innovation-based growth strategy.”
