Phillips-Medisize Corp. has named Winston Brown to the newly created position of vice president, global quality.

Winston has worked with globally integrated and diverse, biopharmaceutical, medical device and nutritional companies and, excelled at each stop along the way,” said Matt Jennings, chairman and CEO.
Brown comes to Phillips-Medisize from Alexza Pharmaceuticals Inc., where he served as vice president of quality. Prior to Alexza, Brown was the global head, quality R&D—pharmaceuticals, biologics, and vision-care devices at Alcon Research Ltd., a division of Novartis AG. He has held multiple leadership positions in quality systems/compliance, regulatory affairs, and technical operations with major medical and pharmaceutical companies including Baxter Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Pharmaceuticals. Brown also served as an officer in the United States Army, where he also held various operational roles.
He has a degree in pharmaceutical engineering and manufacturing from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey; a masters in business administration from Cameron University within the University of Oklahoma system; a B.A. in microbiology and operations management from Concord University in West Virginia; and a medical technology degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Phillips-Medisize is a global outsource provider of design and manufacturing services to the drug delivery, consumable diagnostics and medical device, and specialty commercial markets. The company has annual sales of more than $600 million with 80 percent of the total revenue coming from drug delivery, medical device, primary pharmaceutical packaging and diagnostic products. The company is headquartered in Hudson, Wis., and employs more than 3,400 people in 14 locations throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico and China. The company also has design centers in Wisconsin, California and the Netherlands.
In late May, Phillips-Medisize opened a new design and development center in Suzhou, China. The facility has multiple capabilities including device design, injection molding simulation, developmental tooling and assembly equipment, along with on-site program management.
