Arden Hills, Minn.-based infusion pump maker Smiths Medical is replacing its outgoing president, Srini Seshadri, with Jeff McCaulley, effective March 3. Most recently president of Zimmer Holding Inc.’s Global Reconstructive Division, McCaulley, 48, is a 25-year veteran of the healthcare industry, having held senior posts in Wolters Kluwer Health, Medtronic Inc., and General Electric Medical Systems.
“I am delighted to welcome Jeff into the Smiths family of businesses,” Smith Group CEO Philip Bowman said. “His knowledge of the sector, outstanding track record in improving business performance and focus on customer-driven product development ideally equip him to lead Smiths Medical in the next stage of its development.”
Bowman did not give a reason for Seshadri’s resignation as president, saying only “After eight years we both feel it is time for new leadership and a fresh approach.”
“I thank Srini for all his efforts and wish him well in his future career,” Bowman added. “Srini joined Smiths Medical at a difficult time, inheriting an under-performing business. He has succeeded in rebuilding the trust of customers, driving strong improvements in product quality, while globalizing the division and significantly enhancing margins. Our Medical division has been through a difficult period. It has had to absorb the medical devices tax in the U.S., sector pricing pressures, distributor de-stocking and the inevitable disruption caused by an approach last year to acquire the business.”
Smiths Medical, which makes infusion pumps and other equipment, moved its headquarters to Arden Hills in 2008, but has had a presence in Minnesota since buying Deltec in 1994.
