French company Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has completed the acquisition of Plymouth, Minn.-based Applied Bioprocess Containers, a supplier of single use containers and fluid transfer systems for the biopharmaceutical industry.
Applied Bioprocess Containers specializes in the design and manufacture of single-use storage vessels, particularly bags, designed for the preparation, collection, storage and transportation of biopharmaceutical liquids, as well as single-use fluid transfer assemblies, including tubing and connectors.
According to the company, it has expertise in plastics technology and sterile fluid handling to design and deliver products used from clinical trials to industrial production. Applied Bioprocess Containers focuses on developing highly-customized solutions to meet specific customer requirements.
“This acquisition is an excellent fit for Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, since both companies supply single-use systems to the biopharmaceutical market with the same focus on design, service and customer needs,” said Michael Cahill, vice president of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics’ Fluid Systems division, into which the Applied Bioprocess Containers business will be integrated. “Applied Bioprocess Containers brings us a strong expertise in design and manufacturing of bioprocess containers, while Saint-Gobain has a recognized leadership in fluid transfer components, especially tubing and connectors. This now increases our ability to serve customers globally with a more comprehensive product portfolio.”
Saint-Gobain’s U.S. headquarters are in Aurora, Ohio. The company offers films, foams, coated fabrics, bearings, seals and fluid systems.
