MRPC Names Founder’s Grandson as President
MRPC, a provider of silicone molding, two-material molding and micro molding for medical device components and assemblies, has named Greg Riemer as president.
Riemer, a 13-year company veteran and grandson of the firm’s founder, had been serving as chief operating officer of the Butler, Wis.-based firm. He has helped guide MRPC’s focus on medical/life science device manufacturing and engineering services, the firm said. He also has served as the company’s vice president of sales and marketing.

“Greg’s hands-on experience, coming in the midst of the worst recession our generation has ever known, coupled with his 20 years of industry experience in the plastics, rubber and silicone molding area, provides him with the appropriate tools to lead MRPC,” said CEO John Schlum.
Cardiva President Resigns
Glenn Foy, president of Cardiva Medical Inc., has resigned to become the CEO of Innovative Energy Inc., an alternative energy company. Board Chairman Rick Anderson will serve as interim CEO, the firm said.
Prior to joining Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Cardiva Medical, Floy served as president and CEO of Sanarus Inc., a company in Pleasanton, Calif., that develops minimally invasive techniques for diagnosing and treating breast cancer. Before he was hired by Sanarus, Foy was vice president of marketing and business development for Circulation Inc., an early stage cardiovascular company that was later acquired by Minneapolis, Minn.-based Medtronic Inc. Additionally, Foy has held executive positions at Gynecare Inc. (acquired by Johnson & Johnson), Valleylab, Spectramed Inc., and FOxS Labs (acquired by Puritan Bennett).

NMT Medical Names Scientific Advisory Board Members
NMT Medical Inc. has named eight members to its scientific advisory board, which consists of cardiovascular and neurological industryh experts.
The board will meet periodically with scientific and development personnel as well as executive management to discuss the company’s clinical, regulatory and development programs, the Boston, Mass.-based firm said.
Members of the board include:

ATEK Medical Names General Manager of Costa Rica Facility
ATEK Medical has promoted Yesenia Frago Santamaria to general manager of its facilities in Heredia, Costa Rica.
Frago Santamaria has more than 16 years of experience in medical device manufacturing, engineering and operations experience.
From 1989 to 1992, Santamaria served as production manager at Pelikan Costa Rica; from 1993 to 1998 she was senior production supervisor for Baxter Productos Medicos Ltd; from 1999 to 2004, she was product and procurement principal engineer; and from 2005 to 2006 she was corporate principal engineer at Baxter Healthcare.
“Since joining ATEK Medical last year as the operations manager, Yesenia has helped to create an environment that fosters growth and promotes operational excellence. Her promotion to general manager is the result of the positive impact that she has had on our Costa Rica facility,” said Steve Cardin, ATEK’s vice president of operations.
Based in Grand Rapids, Mich., ATEK Medical serves the medical, disposable, electro-mechanical and implantable device markets.
