Datron Dynamics Inc. has released a version of its high-speed machining technology in a larger format to accommodate sheet material, lengthy extrusions and large-run batch machining, according to the Milford, N.H.-based firm. The useable machining area is 60 inches wide by 40 inches deep. The system uses solid-granite, vibration-dampened construction with precision linear guides.
High-frequency spindles up to 60,000 rpm and a minimal-quantity, electronically measured, spray- mist coolant system provides burr-free milling and engraving results, company officials said. The Microsoft Windows-based controller works with most CAD/CAM software and offers Ethernet networking capability, as well as remote monitoring and control. The ML-1500 is specifically designed for machining of high-quality aluminum panels at top speed, 3D machining of plastics and molds, CNC-milling of large aluminum profiles and milling and engraving industrial signage from brass, zinc, copper, magnesium, aluminum and engineered composites, according to the company. VacuMate is designed to secure flat work pieces to the bed of a machining system, according to the firm.
