As the medical device industry continues to change at a rapid rate, the top goal for all of us at Medical Product Outsourcing is to continue evolving and expand into new territories while keeping our pulse on all the issues you’ve come to expect to learn about every issue. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that, while the med-tech community continues to consolidate, we are in expansion mode. Chris Delporte, an industry veteran from both the publishing and medical device sectors, recently joined our team as group editor.
A former writer and Washington editor for Medical Device Daily, Chris most recently served as the director of communications and member relations for the Medical Device Manufacturers Association. Earlier in his career, he was managing editor for Thomson American Health Consultants, where he managed and wrote five newsletters on topics ranging from hospital admitting to medical ethics, in addition to coordinating continuing education audio conference programs for doctors and nurses. He is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
When I joined this publication nearly year ago, I was asked many questions regarding my insight into the device market and my vision for the magazine. Thus, I would like to introduce you to Chris through his own words:
“Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of the medical device market is the pace of change. Technology continues to evolve quickly, and keeping up with it can be challenging, demanding adaptability from device makers and their outsourcing partners. Regardless of which sector you serve in the industry, staying informed is key.
That’s part of what I hope to accomplish with MPO: keeping the industry up-to-date on the latest trends and issues, helping companies to do business better and smarter. I look forward to working with Howard, Jennifer and the rest of the MPO team—not only to deliver a high-quality editorial product, but to expand coverage into new areas and help our readers stay at the forefront of the many issues impacting them.
Having been an MPO reader since its inception, I certainly have appreciated the magazine’s value. Now that I’m on the other side of the fence, I would like to hear from other readers. What works? What doesn’t? What issues and trends are important? Good or bad, drop me a line at cdelporte@rodpub.com. And if you see me at an upcoming conference, say hello. There are a lot of experiences to learn from and share. So let's get started.”
Chris will be highly visible at industry events, while guiding our group to reach new heights (don’t worry--you’ll still see me around, too). Complementing his efforts, I will also remain your other trusted source for the latest news and insights. In coming issues, you will hear more from Chris on this page—with some of my own input from time to time. We’ve seen what this industry can do in the spirit of collaboration when outsourcing. Now wait and see how we at MPO serve you even better!
