Last year’s Medica trade fair, held in conjunction with Compamed, broke records with 4,400 exhibitors and 137,200 worldwide visitors. This year’s event will concurrently be held with Compamed 2011 and the 34th German Hospital Conference. The event could once again break records as new features make their debut.
The European Hospital Conference is one such event. Designed for top decision-makers in Europe’s hospitals, the event will address the current aspects of healthcare policy and the impact of the European Patients’ Rights Directive on clinics within the European Union (the conference language will be English). All program content will be coordinated by the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation, the European Association of Hospital Managers and the European Association of Senior Hospital Physicians.
Another new feature at Medica is the Wound Care Forum, which will provide information on current trends and methods in chronic wound treatment. The Wound Care Forum was organized in collaboration with the German Institute for Wound Healing.
“This means we can implement our mid-term strategy developed with the Exhibitors’ Advisory Board and combine exhibitors’ product presentations at the trade fair with direct knowledge transfer in the form of specialist lectures, user reports and discussions in affiliated forums—all within the halls of the exhibition,” said Horst Green, project director of Medica.
Returning forums include Medica Tech, Medica Media, Medica Vision and Medica Physio. Medica Congress, the largest multidisciplinary further education forum in Germany with several thousand participants, also returns this year.
A wide range of technological exhibits will be on display, including those featuring electromedicine, medical, laboratory, diagnostic, physiotherapy and orthopedic. Exhibits on medical products as well as information and communication technology, medical furnishings, special room fittings and building service technology also will be presented.
Compamed 2011 will feature an additional 600 exhibits; highlights include microsystems technology, nano technologies, new materials and electronic manufacturing services.
The Medica 2011 World Forum for Medicine International Trade Fair will be held Nov. 16-19. Compamed 2011 High Tech Solutions With Medical Technology International Trade Fair will be held Nov. 16-18. Both events take place in Dusseldorf, Germany.
