Synergy Health plc has acquired BeamOne LLC, which will become the Americas Regional Division of the combined enterprise.
Founded in 2004, BeamOne provides sterilization services for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and other related products. The San Diego, Calif.-based company uses ionizing energy from accelerated electrons as its sterilization source, and is a leader in the application of electron beam technology for medical device sterilization purposes.
Founded in 1991 and based in the United Kingdom, Synergy Health is a publicly held firm that owns 20 sterilization-related businesses throughout Europe, Asia and Africa, specializing in medical decontamination, infection control, hospital linen services and laboratory sectors.
Richard Steeves, chief executive of Synergy Health said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome BeamOne to the Synergy Health family. BeamOne has an outstanding track record as an industry leader in e-beam sterilization services with a cultural and technological match to our own corporate philosophy. The blending of these two highly focused businesses will provide tremendous benefits to the health care and medical device manufacturing industries. The combined team will allow us to expand our technologies into the new Americas region and further enhance our technological capabilities in the electron beam sectors of our other markets.
BeamOne’s current executive and management groups will remain in place.
Glenn Thibault, formerly president and CEO of BeamOne, will be the new CEO of the Synergy Americas Division.
“Our acceptance of Synergy Health’s purchase offer was predicated to a large extent upon our shared business philosophies," Thibault explained. "BeamOne and Synergy are both solidly committed to providing superior customer service and product processing quality, and both companies enjoy worldwide reputations for excellence in these areas. BeamOne’s expertise in electron beam processing, coupled with Synergy’s know-how with all three major sterilization modalities, will vault the joined companies into the position of being the worldwide premier provider of sterilization and decontamination services.”
