Medsource Surgical Solutions, a Houston-based instrument repair company, has joined Encore Medical Device Repair, increasing Encore’s market reach and capabilities while enabling the successful Medsource model to grow to have an impact on a national scale.
“The instrument repair industry is still marred by lack of price transparency, poor service, and lack of innovation,” said Tom Milano, COO of Encore and a 25-year veteran of the repair industry. “In contrast, MedSource has built an industry-leading business model based on a commitment to high repair standards and service excellence that I don’t see anywhere else in the industry. Scaling this business will go a long way towards providing hospitals the level of service they deserve and should expect.”
Medsource leaders see the partnership with reprocessing and repair leaders as an opportunity to participate in an industry transformation.
“With Encore, we can start playing a role beyond the Houston market, we can offer remanufactured robotic instruments, and we can scale our staff of highly qualified repair technicians. All the partners in Encore are committed to changing the industry for the better, and we have had a very strong start,“ said former Medsource leader Francis Doan.
Encore brings together several repair, service, and parts supply companies to create supply chain control and offer hospitals highly competitive pricing and a high repair success rate. The company recently became the sole supplier in the U.S. of remanufactured robotic instruments.
“The foundation for a transformative venture is solid with Encore’s platform and strategy,“ said incoming Encore CEO Kevin Liszewski. “The professionalism and growth of the reprocessing industry provides a model for how the repair industry will come from where we are today to where hospitals see hard-dollar savings, real quality, reliable service, and impactful growth.“
