Minnetronix Medical Inc., a medical technology and operations partner to global medical device companies, has announced that its Minnetronix Medical MindsEye Expandable Port has been selected as the winner of the “Best New Technology Solution - Surgical” award in the fifth annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by MedTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global health and medical technology market.
About the MindsEye Expandable Port
The Minnetronix Medical MindsEye Expandable Port is a minimally invasive, expandable port designed for use in the treatment of stroke, cancer and other conditions. The device’s dynamic retraction creates a custom-sized channel allowing surgeons to reach target areas deep within the brain. This next-generation deep brain access technology minimizes invasiveness to brain tissue and allows surgeons to work without unnecessary distractions. Preventing secondary injury is its first priority.
How It Works
The MindsEye is inserted into the brain and its distal flare design allows the surgeon to expand it, customizing the working channel as needed during surgery, preserving surrounding tissue and anatomies.
MindsEye features a translucent, durable sheath that provides visibility across and through the working channel. Its dynamic retraction causes less damage to brain tissue and its anti-reflective material minimizes distractions allowing surgeons to see brain tissue clearly and stay focused. By adjusting the working channel, surgeons reach lesions deep in the brain without constricting tools or approach. MindsEye supports real-time changes in plans and instrumentation; its compatibility improves the reach and visibility of preferred instrumentation, supporting even more successful procedures.
“Managing risks in neurocritical care is a complex business with secondary injury complicating things even further. We’re looking to develop therapeutic solutions that aim to keep neurosurgeons ahead of secondary injury, enabling healing in neurocritical patients so surgeons can focus on the primary condition with confidence,” said Jeremy Maniak, Minnetronix CEO. “We are honored to receive this 2021 MedTech Breakthrough Award and I consider it a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Minnetronix Medical team.”
The mission of the MedTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work and success in a range of health and medical technology categories, including Robotics, Clinical Administration, Telehealth, Patient Engagement, Electronic Health Records (EHR), mHealth, Medical Devices, Medical Data and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 3,850 nominations from over 17 different countries throughout the world.
“The complexity of neurocritical care means unforeseen challenges are inevitable and MindsEye helps reduce procedural risk in addressing these challenges, as well as enabling earlier intervention, accelerated healing, and improving overall quality of life for patients,” said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. “Congratulations to Minnetronix Medical for this incredible piece of technology that is saving lives the world over. We’re thrilled to present you with this 2021 MedTech Breakthrough Award.”
