Lotte Advanced Materials05.07.19
Lotte Advanced Materials, a global developer of polymer solutions, is introducing Evermoin, a non-silver antimicrobial technology that offers “built-in-the-polymer” protection against infection causing pathogens that cause healthcare associated infections (HAI). The Evermoin technology is available in Lotte’s ABS, PP, and PC products.
Healthcare associated infections are a critical problem in hospitals and other healthcare delivery institutions. On any given day, one out of every 25 hospital patients gets a HAI that, at best, raise the patient’ healthcare costs and, at worst, can cause death to affected patients. The Evermoin antimicrobial technology can help fight HAIs.
Featuring a fast-acting protection against the spread of pathogens and fungal growth, the Evermoin technology has been tested to inhibit 99.9+ (3 log+) growth rate of positive and negative pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
Possible medical applications include medical housings, equipment and accessories.
While the Evermoin technology is an effective HAI fighter in the healthcare industry, it can also be used in non-medical applications to protect against bacterial and fungal growth in applications where cleanliness and safety are important. These include cosmetics, electrical and electronics, appliances, and kitchenware. It features excellent weatherability and UV resistance for applications where out-door exposure may be a factor.
The Evermoin technology is non-toxic and is compliant with ISO 10993-5 and ISO 10993-10 standards. In addition it has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and has also been approved for environmental compatibility by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Lotte Advanced Materials built up ABS and PS plants in 1989, signaling its first major step into the market. Since then, the company has been expanding its business rapidly in a variety of categories including PC, solid surface and engineered stone, helping customers achieve faster growth. Lotte Advanced Materials provides an integrated package of innovative solutions tailored for customers, incorporating the latest market trends and R&D for sustainable growth into its efficient operations and global network.
