Synaptive Medical, a global pioneer in automated surgical planning and robotics, has appointed Sandra Clarke, CPA, CMA as chief financial officer (CFO).
“Ms. Clarke is an incredible addition to our team,” said Peter Wehrly, CEO of Synaptive. “With her background and experience working for companies at critical inflection points, Ms. Clarke will play a key role at Synaptive as we continue expanding our presence globally.”
Clarke joins Synaptive Medical with decades of experience in financial management and operations, having led a variety of small-to-mid-sized companies. Before joining Synaptive Medical, Clarke ran finance and operations, including all aspects of strategic decision support, at Architech, a software development company. Appointed to CFO in 2015, she successfully led the company through international expansion and domestic growth by implementing various financial and operation controls and process improvements.
Prior to her time at Architech, Clarke served as a principal at SOLV Consulting, where she counseled numerous multi-billion-dollar companies on financial management and operations. During her time there, she was appointed CFO to The Second Cup, a publicly operated coffee chain. Earlier in her career, she worked as CFO of The Canadian Press, where she led all strategic decision-making and spearheaded a successful restructuring of the company. After graduation, Clarke held numerous finance positions at Grand & Toy, Manpower, and Bell Canada. Clarke earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting from Lakehead University in Ontario, Canada, and holds a CPA designation.
“I’m very excited to join Synaptive and work closely with the team to continue advancing their efforts in transforming neurosurgical technologies,” Clarke said. “Given the increasing need for advanced neurological care, I’m pleased to be working for a company that is committed to providing physicians the tools necessary to achieve optimal patient outcomes.”
Synaptive Medical Inc., a Toronto-based medical device and technology company, designs hardware and software that cross traditional barriers in hospitals and improve patient care in and beyond the operating room. Synaptive’s Modus V and integrated BrightMatter solutions—including surgical planning, navigation and visualization and an informatics platform—give clinicians and healthcare systems the information they need to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
