Meddux Development Corporation LLC, a new engineering design and development firm for medical, life sciences, and consumer healthcare products, is ready to assist customers in getting to market faster with less risk and improved capital efficiency.
The Meddux team brings over 20 years of proven medical device experience to the industry. Founder and president, David Schechter has been an inventor on over 35 U.S. patents relating to radiofrequency energy delivery, RF tissue welding, electrosurgical devices, interventional devices, and minimally invasive surgical tools.
Schechter said the call to start his own business came from the ability to assemble a world-class team of medical device experts and the ability to deploy proven processes that de-risk the technical aspects of product development. Meddux offers a modular offering beginning with Concept Generation/Usability Engineering, Stage-gate Product Development, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and New Product Introduction (NPI)/Critical Parameter Management. Meddux also intends to provide clinical device manufacturing by the end of the year.
“Outsourcing product development has been shown to improve capital efficiency for medical device start-ups by controlling fixed costs. The key to success is to be working with a partner that can bring the right level of technical expertise and clinical understanding for your application,” said Schechter.
Meddux focuses on the principles of flexibility and responsiveness, working as an extension of a company’s team to solve its hardest challenges.
The company name “Meddux” was developed based on the fact that “Med” is a well-know abbreviation for “medical” and the latin word “dux” is a derivative for leader/guide.
