EyeQue, developers of affordable vision technologies, has debuted an advanced intelligent vision solution that enables anyone, anywhere to easily and affordably test and track their vision, resulting in refractive measurements that can be used to order corrective eyeglasses. The EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker is touted as the first in-home vision testing solution to combine a cloud-based technology platform, a smartphone application, and a miniature optical scope to form a low-cost, uniquely precise option for people to gather corrective vision measurements whenever and wherever they choose.
“The team at EyeQue have made extraordinary strides in eliminating two of the most prevalent barriers people face when in need of vision correction,” said John Serri, Ph.D., co-founder of EyeQue. “Access to optometrists and affordability of care remain the biggest challenges to a growing population of vision impaired. The Personal Vision Tracker, while delivering convenience and insight to many, will have a profound global impact– bringing comfort and productivity to people around the world.”
Founded in 2015 and on track to deliver product to users this month, EyeQue has two primary objectives:
EyeQue has developed an optical miniscope and smartphone application based on a patented refraction concept invented at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. EyeQue’s optical miniscope attaches to the screen of a smartphone (iOS or Android) and allows you to self-administer a state-of-the-art refractive measurement test through the free myEyeQue mobile application. Patented and proprietary algorithms in the EyeQue Cloud process results in real-time, generating a vision record and a set of EyeGlass Numbers that are instantly delivered to the mobile phone and stored securely in the cloud. Users can access vision records through the mobile application and online at eyeque.com to track vision history, compare results with other people, and share information with their eye care professionals.

In a recent study comparing the EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker against an industry standard autorefractor, measuring spherical equivalent, astigmatism, and resultant visual acuity, the EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker produces comparable results within 0.23 diopters of the professional-grade doctor’s office autorefractor.
The profile dashboard and myEyeQue app feature customizable notifications and content to educate people on eye health, eyewear trends, and provide reminders, such as when to schedule an annual eye health exam with a doctor or when to take an interim test for personal vision tracking. The company's app has the potential to foster communication between eye care professionals and their patients and distributes real-time notifications of significant changes in patient vision.
The Personal Vision Tracker will initially be sold directly from eyeque.com. The myEyeQue application and cloud access will be available for free on both Apple App store and Google Play.
For a limited time, EyeQue is conducting a beta testing program in which qualified applicants can obtain the Personal Vision Tracker free of charge in exchange for feedback.
While using EyeQue to personally measure and track refractive error has the benefits of detecting change between regular eye exams, it does not replace a comprehensive eye exam that evaluates ocular health or binocularity.
EyeQue is dedicated to putting affordable, accurate vision tests directly into their hands. The EyeQue optical miniscope and myEyeQue mobile application create an intelligent vision solution for anyone to use anywhere, at any time. Results are instantly processed and stored in the cloud, creating a vision record history that can be shared with doctors and used immediately to order corrective eye wear. Founded by serial entrepreneurs, Tibor Laczay and Dr. John Serri, the company operates from its Silicon Valley (California) headquarters.
