Bothell, Wash.-based BioLife Solutions Inc., which makes proprietary clinical grade cell and tissue hypothermic storage and cryopreservation freeze media and a related cloud hosted biologistics cold chain management app for smart shippers, has hired Roderick de Greef as interim chief financial officer and secretary. He previously served on BioLife’s board of directors for over a decade through 2013.
Over the last 30 years, de Greef has held a number of senior executive financial positions and served on the boards of several public companies including Endologix, Cambridge Heart, Cardiac Science, Elephant Talk Communications, and BioLife Solutions. Mr. de Greef has been involved in numerous domestic and international mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions. He currently serves as the chairman of the Audit Committee for the publicly traded company Elephant Talk Communications.
“Roderick brings tremendous professional experience and familiarity with BioLife and I look forward to working closely with him again,” said Mike Rice, BioLife’s president and CEO. “I am confident he will make significant contributions in finance, strategy, and execution for growth.”
“BioLife is very well positioned for growth,” said de Greef. “Our core biopreservation media business is strong and has great potential as the cell therapy market matures over the next few years. Our new biologistex cold chain management service is a potentially disruptive and a very complementary offering that also supports our customers in their quest to bring novel time and temperature sensitive cell based therapies to market. I’m looking forward to working with Mike, the board, and our finance team to meet our objectives for 2016.”
De Greef received a bachelor of arts in economics and international relations from San Francisco State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Oregon.
