Natvar, a global supplier of medical tubing and profiles for medical device manufacturers, and a division of Wayne, Pa.-based Tekni-Plex Inc., has released the Lipopath family of tubes for capillary blood draw applications. According to the company, Lipopath is a cost efficient, hydrophilic, glass-clear alternative to glass and plastic hematocrit tubes that require a drying process for plasma and heparin coating.
“With Lipopath capillary tubes, there’s no need for drying prior to plasma coating or heparinization—and no coating may be needed for some select applications,” said Bob Donohue, general manager of Natvar Global Medical Operations. “Lipopath tubes are constructed with a co-polyester outer layer and an inner layer made of proprietary material. This makes preparation faster to help device manufacturers save time and cost.”
The shatterproof properties of Lipopath tubes offer additional advantages for manufacturers and diagnostic labs.
“This added level of safety against breakage helps reduce the risk of contamination during lab testing and study procedures,” added Donohue.
Natvar provides precision crafted tubing and profiles for a range of applications from chemotherapy to wound care.
