Enable Injections has added to its executive ranks.
The company has hired pharmaceutical veteran Jeannete “Jeannie” Joughin as vice president of Corporate Development. Enable Injections develops and manufactures a new class of injection technology that could soon make it easy, comfortable and convenient for patients to self-administer large volume drugs such as biologics at home or work rather than at a healthcare facility.
“Bringing a pharmaceutical business executive of Jeannie’s high caliber on board significantly improves our ability to communicate and establish relationships with our existing pharma partners and other major pharma and biotech businesses,” President/CEO Michael Hooven said.
In her newly created role, Joughin will be responsible for business development, strategic alliances, alliance management and clinical activities, including overall management of the clinical trials group. Working cross-functionally, she will help select and prioritize Enable’s global portfolio, company bigwigs noted in a news release.
Previously, Joughin was vice president, Business Development, at drugmaker CSL Behring, where she directed growth strategy worldwide. There, she championed a patient-focused approach and worked closely with the Enable Injections team, resulting in a long-term collaboration agreement. The deal, announced in October 2014, spoke to CSL Behring’s commitment to improving patients’ quality of life by offering a new drug delivery option to make therapy administration easy; improve treatment compliance; and offer greater treatment flexibility.
“I became very passionate about Enable’s technology, which has benefits for pharmaceutical companies as well as patients, and look forward to bringing it to new therapeutic areas,” Joughin said. “I also enjoy working with Mike and his team. Enable’s culture and responsiveness to customers is a great fit that will drive me personally and professionally.”
Prior to CSL, the Australian native was marketing manager at Melbourne, Australia-based Mayne Pharma; general manager of Medimark International, and a product manager at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Founded February 2010 by medical device industry veterans, Franklin, Ohio-based Enable Injections develops and manufactures devices that allow easy, comfortable patient self-administration of high volume/viscosity drugs for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry investigational use. The Enable body-worn Injector utilizes any standard container closure system, including syringe, vial or cartridge; automatically warms and can automatically mix lyophilized solutions.
