Materialise NV, a provider of 3-D software and printing solutions, and Consensus Orthopedics Inc. are expanding their association.
Consensus plans to use the Acetabular Cup Orientation (ACO) Hip Guide System from Materialise. In June, the companies announced a partnership using knee-imaging technology from Materialise.
The Materialise ACO Hip Guide System, a platform consisting of 3-D surgical planning software and patient-specific surgical guides for hip surgery, allows surgeons to predictably plan hip surgeries based on the patient's unique anatomy and structural damage. Based on that pre-operative plan, patient-specific guides are designed and 3-D printed for use during surgery.
Jeroen Dille, director of Materialise's Clinical Unit, said: "Just one month after announcing our first contract with Consensus Orthopedics to use our Knee Guide System, we are excited to announce another collaboration agreement, this time with regard to the ACO Hip Guide System. Through this growing partnership, more surgeons will have access to 3-D planning and printing solutions, which ultimately means that more patients can benefit from this technology. Since the start of Materialise 25 years ago, our mission has been to create meaningful 3-D printing applications for a better and healthier world. This partnership is perfectly in line with that mission statement."
"Materialise is providing Consensus with yet another unique product,” said Colleen Gray, president and CEO of Consensus. “Surgical outcomes have a higher rate of predictability once our surgeons have access to preoperative planning and are able to use patient-specific guides based on a patient's CT (computed tomography imaging). Consensus is delighted to see this partnership with Materialise grow and to continue delivering innovative solutions for the orthopedics industry."
Materialise is based in Belgium.
