Vention Medical has expanded its catheter capabilities in Costa Rica to create what the company calls a “catheter center of excellence.”
According to the firm’s leadership, the dedicated facility will enable Vention to add to its suite of catheter technologies—which range from design and development through high-volume manufacturing—in a low-cost geography.
“Our customers are always looking for ways to reduce costs without compromising quality,” said Vention's CEO Dan Croteau. “This catheter center of excellence meets that need by bringing Vention’s world-class catheter expertise to a strategic, low-cost geography.”
The dedicated site brings together key component technologies such as medical balloons, multi-layer extrusions and reinforced shafts with leading-edge materials including polyimide and polyetheretherketone. It also offers dedicated resources that bring specialized experience in critical assembly processes such as laminating, tip forming and laser bonding, officials noted. The investment, according to the firm’s leadership, combines the company’s expertise in components and catheters with assembly and manufacturing technologies. It also expands the technical support resources to provide customers with a complete solution to their catheter-based device needs.
Vention Medical specializes in components and services used in interventional and minimally invasive surgical products including catheters, balloons, extrusions, polyimide and composite tubing, heat shrink tubing, braid-reinforced shafts, clean-room injection molding, and finished device assembly and packaging.
Vention has facilities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, in addition to Costa Rica and Ireland.
