Aspen Medical Europe Ltd. and Vancive Medical Technologies have inked an agreement for Aspen to distribute Vancive’s BeneHold absorbent wound dressing portfolio in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The BeneHold range comprises three product lines:
• Thin, absorbent wound dressing featuring TASA (Thin Absorbent Skin Adhesive);
• Bordered hydrocolloid dressing with odor control (available in two formulations); and the
• Standard hydrocolloid dressing.
“We are pleased to have Aspen Medical as our partner, as we share a similar mission bringing innovative products to improve patient outcomes and patient experience with healthcare economics in mind,” said Howard Kelly, president and general manager of Vancive. “By adding technologies like TASA and advanced hydrocolloids that complement Aspen’s portfolio of advanced wound care products, we provide a comprehensive solution to meet the needs of the practitioner.”
The bordered hydrocolloid dressing with odor control is formulated with non-cytotoxic cyclodextrins that capture odor molecules to help increase patient confidence. The dressings have a superior fluid handling capacity compared with existing products at equivalent thickness.
The thin absorbent dressings are based on Vancive’s proprietary TASA technology. At only 0.12 millimeters, TASA dressings are less than half the thickness of other “thin” hydrocolloids. This, according to the company, translates to superior conformability, exceptional transparency and less opportunity for the dressing’s edge to lift off of the skin.
In early evaluations of the BeneHold Absorbent Wound Dressings, clinicians found that longer wear times can be achieved, especially on hard-to-dress or moisture-complicated areas, according to Vancive officials. Because of its thinness, transparency, and the unique way it manages moisture, TASA was particularly well received.
“The Aspen Medical team looks forward to working with Vancive and its Benehold product range to provide wound care practitioners solutions that will help them meet their clinical challenges,” said Chris Hill, sales and marketing director, Aspen Medical. “This technology, along with Vancive traditional and enhanced hydrocolloids, is a good fit within our portfolio of products. Hydrocolloid technology has an important and ongoing role to play in wound management.”
Vancive Medical Technologies is an Avery Dennison business headquartered in Chicago, Ill.
